Accounting Analyst

Position Summary
The Accounting Analyst reports to the Accounting Team Lead and is responsible for managing general ledger and accounting activities for assigned entities and accounts. This role ensures the timely completion of period-close activities, mitigates risks, and provides oversight for financial reporting accuracy.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Account Reconciliation:
    • Review and approve monthly and quarterly account reconciliations to lower risk and maintain accurate ledger reporting.
  • Journal Entries:
    • Review and approve medium to high-risk journal entries prepared by the Global Staff Accountant.
  • Financial Oversight:
    • Act as the escalation point of contact for assigned balance sheet accounts.
    • Oversee the month-end task list, including BPC reporting packages for financial consolidation, ensuring timely and accurate close activities.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Attend key stakeholder meetings to discuss open risks and action plans for resolution.
  • System and Process Improvements:
    • Review and recommend updates to accounting systems, procedures, and the Financial & Accounting Methods Manual (FAMM).
  • Analytics and Reporting:
    • Develop and perform analytics on key accounts to drive resolutions, create review efficiencies, and reduce risk.
  • Audit Support:
    • Support internal and external audit requests as needed.
  • Documentation Management:
    • Review and approve SOPs prepared by Global Staff Accountants; ensure accuracy and update procedures as required.
  • Mentorship:
    • Mentor new Accounting Analysts and Staff Accountants, providing guidance on processes and organizational culture.
  • Team Support:
    • Assist the Accounting Team Lead with team management tasks.
    • Suggest and implement process improvements by collaborating with upstream process owners to streamline operations.
  • Adherence to Standards:
    • Ensure compliance with department goals, metrics, audit reports, and service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Special Projects:
    • Complete special assignments as necessary to support team objectives.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting or related experience.

Skills and Competencies:
  • Strong ability to analyze and reconcile financial reports.
  • Proficient in identifying and resolving discrepancies.
  • Skilled in cross-functional collaboration to address and solve problems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems (e.g., Workday).
  • Excellent communication and mentoring skills.
