Job SummaryThe Field Engineer is part of the project management team responsible for overseeing and managing construction projects, ensuring they are completed safely, efficiently, and according to plans and specifications. The role involves project planning, resource management, quality control, and communication with stakeholders.NOTE: Must be technology savvy (computer, tablet, etc.). This is NOT an engineering position.ResponsibilitiesPlanning and Preparation:Review project plans and specifications: analyze drawings, specifications, and other technical documents to understand the project requirements and identify potential issues.Conduct site surveys and assessments: evaluate the site's conditions, identify potential hazards, and ensure the site is suitable for construction.Prepare site reports and documentation: maintain accurate records of site activities, progress, and encountered issues.On‑site Management and Supervision:Oversee construction activities; provide oversight to subcontractors and workers to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, and safety regulations.Monitor project schedules and budgets; aid in tracking timelines and costs as construction progresses.Manage resources: monitor the delivery and use of materials and equipment, ensuring efficient allocation; coordinate with materials management to organize received materials.Ensure quality control: inspect work in progress to confirm it meets required standards; complete QA/QC checklists and reports; collect as‑built drawing redlines and construction progress photography.Troubleshoot and solve problems: act as the frontline resource for technical difficulties, design changes, or other issues that arise during construction; liaise with engineering when issues must be escalated.Communication and Coordination:Communicate with project stakeholders; liaise with clients, architects, engineers, contractors, and other team members to keep everyone informed of progress and address concerns.Collaborate with other professionals; work closely with engineers, designers, and specialists to ensure the project is executed effectively; convey field concerns to technical staff when appropriate.Prepare reports and presentations; communicate project status, issues, and solutions to relevant parties, including management; update schedules.Safety and Compliance:Enforce safety regulations; assist safety personnel in ensuring that all workers on site adhere to health and safety guidelines.Manage environmental impact; assess and mitigate the environmental effects of the construction project when required.QualificationsSkills & Abilities:Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.High attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast‑paced environment on multiple projects.Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.Self‑starter able to work independently and in a team atmosphere.Proficient in Microsoft Office.Physical Demands and Work EnvironmentAbility to work within a physically demanding environment, including extended periods of standing, walking, frequent sitting, kneeling, bending, crouching, reaching, stopping, and climbing.Work performed indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.Job operates in a field environment with routine requirements of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, and twisting, often in inclement weather.Requirement to maintain vision at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less, with precise hand‑eye coordination and color discrimination.Education and ExperienceAssociate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field.6 months to a year of experience in construction (preferred).BenefitsMedical, Dental, Vision, Disability, and Life insurance.401(k) plan and Employee Stock Purchase plan.Being part of a publicly traded company (MTZ, NYSE).Equal Employment OpportunityThe Company's policy is not to unlawfully discriminate against any applicant or employee based on race, color, national origin, ethnicity, sex, gender, sexual orientation, religion, marital status, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, or any other basis protected by applicable law and EEOC regulations.
